Benoit's shoulder was injured at the time of her 1992 disappearance and she was taking painkillers as a result.
CIRCUMSTANCES
Benoit was last seen at her family's residence in Creole, Louisiana on July 23, 1992. She has never been heard
from again. There is little available evidence concerning her case, but authorities believe Benoit may have chosen to leave
of her own accord. She may be in Florida. Her case, which was reclassified from a runaway to endangered missing in 2005, remains
unsolved.
From an on line post by Wida Mae's step-sister made in 2003 one might assume that she left home on her own
to escape a not so happy situation.
"If Wilda Mae happens to read this I would like to let her know that he has
been sober for quite a while now"
As of 11/2006 Her step-sister was still searching for her.
